Close your eyes and imagine how the world will look like 100 years from now…. all the different technologies that would be available. Perhaps robots will be running everything? Or maybe you’d be able to control anything with your mind?
Out of the many possibilities, there are two main technologies I hoped we would have by now: faster transportations options, and immersive virtual reality!
️Airplanes haven’t gotten any faster overe the last 50 years or so. We still have to sit in tight seats for long hours get around the world.
Cars haven’t done much better either — it had been thought flying cars would be the norm by now, as we’ve seen in so many sci-fi movies.
What I would really hope for though is Teleportation (basically instant atomic transfer from one place to another) though sadly that is probably not coming out anytime soon seeing as where technology is at right now. When it does come one day, it will change the entire world as all other methods of transportation and logistics would disappear. People would not need cars, planes, or trains – and therefore none of the roadsa and fuels required for them.
🥽 Fully-immersive virtual reality is not like the basic VR we currently have. On top of visuals, your body would be connected to various nodes that plug into your brain and nervous system.
The experience is lived with all your senses. As you can smell everything, touch things, feel the weather, and move around interacting with objects. It is living the entire experience as if it is a reality. Indulging oneself completely in the virtual world.
Do you think such virtual experiences will replace real experiences at some point? Can people simply travel and explore things with their minds and avoid the risks & costs of real travel?
