It certainly “sucks” to be different from the majority of people and not conforming to common norms!
I’ve learned this the hard way while engaging in startup businesses, many ideas and features that may be of interest to me don’t apply much to the general masses.
🔷 Here are some examples:
They say most people place higher value onto something the more elusive it is, i.e. the more effort they undertake to acquire it. For me it’s the opposite, the effort makes me question the value of things and move on!
Many people are drawn to events that offer free food, or gifts of food and the like. I steer away from those, and if someone gifts me some sweets I consider it an insult! 🚫
Most people around the world are shifting to more use of mobile devices and doing everything on their phone or tablet – not me, I do most tasks on a huge desktop computer (including using social media and chat apps etc.) No way would I watch a movie on a tiny phone or laptop, need a 50” screen minimum 😊
Most people consider a nice day as when the sun is shining and no heavy clouds. I’d prefer cloudy days all year round! On top of all that, I’m not into family life or observing major holidays. 🤫
You can probably see now the major hindrances caused by all this in my business endeavors. 🤷♂️
Perhaps mine are a bit extreme, but all of us have differences. The lesson to learn here is that entrepreneurs should always try to assemble a very diverse team representing all facets of society, including its norms & odd quirks, in order to help make their products appealing to a wide range of people.
